PLATFORM SECOND OPINION

Check it before you sign.

Get an outside view before you renew a contract or choose a new platform. No vendor commissions, no reseller deals and no implementation work attached to the advice.

I buy and run enterprise platforms in my own job. I’ll help you see the costs, risks and gaps early, while you can still change the deal.

Two versions, one approach

Same skill, same format. Pick the moment you’re in.

Before You Renew

Contract up for renewal? Check it before you sign again.

Renewals sneak up and notice periods are short. Go into the renewal knowing what to push back on, in order, and what to ask for.

Before You Buy

Making a major platform decision? Get an independent view before you commit.

Most organisations make one every 5 to 10 years. Sign, or walk away, knowing the five things to fix or negotiate first.

THE DETAIL

What each version covers.

Both start with a pre-read, then a 60 to 90 minute session, a short written note and a 20-minute follow-up.

01

Before You Renew

Go into the renewal knowing what to push back on, in order, and what to ask for.

Ideally 3 to 6 months before the contract ends. The vendor’s renewal offer is often higher and often bundles in AI add-ons.

Why me: I deal with vendors and renewals in my day job, so I know where the room to push back usually is.
Best suited tomid-sized organisations without a dedicated procurement or sourcing team.
  • Licences paid for but not used.
  • Know what to push back on, in what order, and what the vendor will say back.
  • Whether the vendor is keeping its promises, and whether the AI add-ons are needed.
  • A one-page note of what to ask for, in priority order.

02

Before You Buy

Sign, or walk away, knowing the five things to fix or negotiate first.

Bring the proposal, business case or shortlist. We test the decision before you commit.

Why me: I’ve worked across platform selection, implementation, governance and ongoing ownership.
Best suited toCOOs, CFOs, CIOs and heads of technology or operations facing a new platform decision. Also smaller businesses choosing their first real HR, payroll, CRM or finance system, and international companies setting up in Australia.
  • Are we underestimating implementation, and is the vendor proposal realistic?
  • An AI check: does it work today, is it in the price, and where does the data go?
  • Setting up in Australia? Check that HR, payroll and workforce systems cope with awards, Single Touch Payroll and super.
  • A decision note: go, go with changes, or stop and check, plus the 5 things to fix or negotiate.

HOW IT WORKS

A simple, focused process

Fixed fee, agreed upfront. No share of savings, so the advice isn’t pushed towards cuts that aren’t the right call.
1
Send the pre-read
The contract, invoices, usage numbers and renewal offer. Or the proposal, business case and shortlist. Plus one question: what’s making this decision hard?
2
Work through it together
A 60 to 90 minute session on what matters most, live.
3
A short written note
A clear verdict and what to push back on or fix, in priority order.
4
A short follow-up
A 20-minute follow-up after you decide or negotiate, included.

Renewal or decision coming up?

Check it before you sign.
Send me a short note about the contract or decision and your timing. This is operational and commercial advice, not legal advice, and I don’t negotiate with the vendor on your behalf.
